It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 15-16).Bu çalışmada Bilkent üniversitesi Turizm ve Otel İşletmeciliği bölümünün kuruluş tarihi, 1988’den 2018’e kadar olan süreçte bölümün geçirdiği değişiklikler, turizm eğitimindeki yeri, turizm sektöründe nasıl tanındığı, neden tercih edildiği ve içinde olduğu organizasyonlar incelenmiştir. Bu süreç içerisinde eğitim programındaki değişiklikler, turizm eğitimde önderlik ettiği yenilikler, bölümün mezunlarının sektörde tercih edilirliği, bölümün katıldığı ve düzenlediği organizasyonlar üzerinde durulmuştur. Yazılı, sözlü ve görsel kaynaklardan destek alınarak araştırma tamamlanmıştır.In this study, a research conducted on Bilkent University Tourism and Hotel Management Department's foundation, its place in the tourism and hotel management education, the place of its graduates in the tourism and hospitality industry and its evolution since its foundation in 1988 until 2018. Also, the organizations that Bilkent University Tourism and Hotel Management Department is a part of, the improvements the department made on the Turkish Tourism and Hospitality education system are researched. The changes in the curriculum of the four year program of the department, the changes in the academic staff are also considered while this research is conducted.
