It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 14-15).Manisa mesir macunu, Osmanlı-Türk kültürünü yansıtan, günümüze kadar ulaşan şifalı bir karışımdır. Zamanında Merkez Efendi’nin Hafsa Sultan’ı iyileştirmek için hazırladığı bu şifalı karışım, 483 yıllık bir geleneğe dönüşmüş ve Nevruz haftalarında “Manisa Mesir Şenliği” adı altında kutlanan festivaller ortaya çıkmıştır. Mesir macununun ve Festivallerinin tarihinin ortaya konulmasını, mesir macununun Türk kültüründeki yerinin belirlenmesini amaçlayan bu araştırmada mesir macununun tarihini bilen, Manisa Mesir Festivallerine yıllarca tanıklık etmiş, bu konuda birçok kitabı bulunan yazar Ali Haydar Aksakal’ın verdiği bilgilerden yararlanılmıştır. Mesir macununun ve Festivallerinin ortaya çıkışını anlamak, özellikle de Festivallerin günümüze kadar geçirdiği değişimi ortaya koymak Türkiye’nin ve Türk kültürünün dünyaya tanıtılması açısından önem arz etmektedir.Manisa Mesir Paste is a medicinal mixture that reflects the Ottoman-Turkish culture and has survived to the present day. This healing mixture, prepared by Merkez Efendi to heal Hafsa Sultan, turned into a 483-year-old tradition and festivals celebrated under the name "Manisa Mesir Festival" emerged during the Nevruz weeks. In this research, which aims to reveal the history of mesir paste and Mesir Paste Festivals, and to determine the place of mesir paste in Turkish culture, Ali Haydar Aksakal who knows the history of mesir paste, has witnessed the Manisa Mesir Festivals for years, and has many books on this subject, informed and highlighted significant points.
