It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 17-18).Prof. Dr. İsmet Köktürk 1953’te Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nden mezun olduktan sonra aynı fakültenin Anatomi Enstitüsü’nde asistan olarak çalışmaya başladı. Sonra hocasının yönlendirmesiyle gittiği İsviçre’de eğitimini tamamlayarak yurda döndü ve 1959 yılında Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’ne atandı. Daha sonra Ege Üniversitesi Hastanesi, elektron mikroskobisi laboratuvarı ve Türkiye’de ilk olan “Odyovizüel Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi”nin açılmasına öncülük etti. Teletıp çalışmalarıyla İzmir için bir ilke imza atan Köktürk, 1997 yılında emekli olana kadar çalışmalarına Ege Üniversitesi’nde devam etti ve 26 Aralık 2006’da aramızdan ayrıldı.After graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1953, Prof. Dr. İsmet Köktürk began his assistantship at the Anatomy Institute of the same faculty. Later, with the guidance of his teacher, he completed his education in Switzerland and returned to his homeland. In 1959, he was appointed to Ege University Faculty of Medicine as a teacher. Later, he led the establishment of the Ege University Hospital, the electron microscopy laboratory, and the "Audiovisual Research and Application Center", which was the first in Turkey. His telemedicine studies became a first in Izmir. He then continued his studies at Ege University until his retirement in 1997.
