It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Kırk yılı aşkın süre askerlik yapmıştır. 1974 Kıbrıs Harekâtında yer almıştır ve Türkiye’ye dönerek ülkenin dört bir yanında hizmet vermiştir. 8. Kolordu, 66. Zırhlı Tugay, 1. Mekanize Piyade Tümeni gibi birlikleri komuta etmiştir. Askerliğinin ilerleyen yıllarında Genelkurmay İstihbarat Başkanı olup Genelkurmay İstihbarat Bölümünü yeniden teşkilatlandırmıştır. İnternet Andıcı ve Ergenekon Davaları sebebiyle tutuklanıp cezaevine gönderilmiştir ve iki yıl cezaevinde yatmıştır. Cezaevinden çıktığında ise siyasete ve yazarlığa yönelmiştir. Bu çalışmada kendisiyle yapılan görüşmeler, yazdığı kitaplar, kendisini ilgilendiren gazete haberleri vb. kaynakların ışığında İsmail Hakkı Pekin’in günümüze kadar hayatının, karşılaştığı sorunların ve edindiği deneyimlerin anlatılması hedeflenmektedir.Ismail Hakkı Pekin is a retired commander, who has outstanding military achievements. He was born in a small town in Bursa on April 22, 1951. He has forty years of military experience. He served in the 1974 Cyprus Operation before returning to Turkey and continued doing all over the country. He commanded forces such as the 8th Corps, the 66th Armed Brigade, and the 1st Mechanized Infantry Division. In his later years as a soldier, he reformed the Intelligence Division of General Staff as its chief. He was arrested in the Internet Andıcı and Ergenekon lawsuit and served two years in prison. He decided to be a politician and a writer when he was discharged. At present, he proudly serves his country by sharing his experience and insight on current matters on TV. He has written two books up to the present.
