It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 14-15).The paper aims to provide an overview of Andrew Mango's life and work regarding Turkey and its surrounding topics. It is argued that Mango's efforts greatly influenced the field of Turkish Studies, as a result of his cultural background and his perspective of Turkey and it sinhabitants. This is firstly addressed by exploring his Levantine roots and early life to present how they shaped the point of view that he held regarding his birth country. Moving on, his works will be expanded up on in order to present what made them standoutfromthealreadypresentwritingsin his field, them ostnotableof which being his biography of Atatürk. Lastly,theim pression heleft on his colleagues and reviews of his works by others will beusedtofur the rassess the argument in greater depth.Bu araştırma, Andrew Mango'nun hayatı, Türkiye hakkındaki eserleri ve benzer konular üzerine genel bir bakış açısı sunmayı amaçlar. Mango'nun çabalarının Türkçe Araştırmaları alanında geçmiş kültürel birikimleri ve Türkiye ve sakinleri hakkındaki bakış açısı sayesinde kültürel olarak büyük bir etki yarattığı tartışma konusu olmuştur. Bu durum ilk olarak doğduğu ülke hakkındaki bakış açısının nasıl geliştiğini Levanten köklerini ve gençliğini inceleyerek ele alınmıştır. Devamında, alanındaki diğer eserlerden farkını gösteren unsurları ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla, en kayda değer olanı Atatürk hakkında yazdı biyografi olmak üzere eserleri üzerinde durulacaktır.
