It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Genel tarih kabulüne göre Türklerin atası olan Hunlardan günümüze güreş, Türk milleti için her zaman ayrı bir yere sahip olmuş, düğünlerin, eğlencelerin, toyların vs. hep bir parçası olmuştur. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kurucusu Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün spora özellikle de Türklerin ata sporu olan güreşe verdiği önem hep ön planda olmuştur. Güreşin kültürel yönlerinin dışında toplum nezdinde, ekonomik, siyasi ve sosyal açıdan da etkileri bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca, genel olarak spor, medya ve yayın araçları için önemli bir gelir oluşturmaktadır. Fakat bu spor unsurlarının büyük çoğunluğunu futbol maçları ve ona bağlı spor programları oluşturmasından dolayı güreş geri planda kalmıştır. Türk güreşinin önemli isimlerinden Ahmet Ak, Cumhuriyetin yetiştirdiği önemli bir figür olmuştur. Adını dolayısıyla da Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ni güreş tarihine yazdıran Ak, gerek profesyonel sporculuğuyla gerek de yetiştirdiği öğrenciler ile Türk güreşine ve sporuna büyük katkı sağlamıştır.Wrestling is one of the most famous sports branches all around the world.
