It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Halkın Kurtuluşu yalnızca habercilik değil aynı zamanda siyasal bir devrim hedefiyle örgütlenmeyi amaç edindi. 12 Eylül darbesinin ardından dağıtılan gazetenin kadroları gazetecilere yönelik baskının ve şiddetin yüksek olduğu 1992’de Gerçek isminde haftalık politik dergi çıkardı. Daha sonra günlük bir gazetenin çıkmasına ihtiyaç olduğunu düşünen Gerçek dergisi yazarları, kendileriyle benzer görüşe sahip Can Yücel, Sennur Sezer, Adnan Özyalçıner, Aziz Nesin gibi yazar ve aydınlarla beraber 7 Haziran 1995’te Evrensel gazetesini çıkarmaya başladı.In 1976, Halkın Kurtuluşu newspaper started to get published in Turkey as a weekly newspaper that adopted a scientific socialist worldview. Halkın Kurtuluşu aims not only to report but also to organize with the aim of a political revolution. The staff of the newspaper, which was dissolved after the September 12 coup, published a weekly political magazine called Gerçek in 1992, when the pressure and violence against the journalists were high.
