It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 13).13 Temmuz 1995 tarihinde Isparta'nın Senirkent ilçesinde meydana gelen sel, ilçe sakinlerinin hayatını oldukça olumsuz bir şekilde etkilemiştir. Olay sonucunda birçok insan hayatını kaybetmiş ve evinden olmuştur. Bu felaket, Senirkent halkında her ne kadar büyük bir yara açsa da genel olarak Türkiye çapında bilinen bir olay değildir. Oysaki bunun gibi birçok kayba sebep olabilecek bir sel, dikkat edilmeye değerdir. Yaşanan afetin yeterince bilinmemesi, araştırma konusu olarak seçilmesinde büyük bir rol oynamıştır. Ayrıca az kişi tarafından bilinmesi, bu projede olayla ilgili öncelik olarak genel bilgiler verilmesini sağlamıştır. Bunların içinde Senirkent'in fiziksel yapısı, selin oluşum sürecinde etkisi olan faktörler ele alınmıştır. Selin gerçekleşmesinde etkin rol oynayan faktörler açıklandıktan sonra ilçe üzerindeki etkileri ele alınmıştır. Felaketin şehre yaptığı fiziksel etkiler ve maddi zararlar anlatılmış, ilçe halkının arasındaki dayanışmadan ve çevre ilçelerin de yaptığı yardımlardan bahsedilmiştir. Son olarak ise olay sonrası bireysel ve toplumsal olarak alınan önlemlere değinilerek Dünya Bankası gibi çeşitli yerlerden Senirkent'e yapılan yardımlardan bahsedilmiştir.The flood that occurred in the Senirkent district of Isparta on 13 July 1995 affected the lives of the inhabitants quite negatively. Many people lost their lives and homes as a result of the incident. Although this disaster has caused a great wound to the people of Senirkent, it is not generally known in Turkey. However, the flood that can cause many losses like this, worth to be examined. The lack awareness, in which the disaster that happened, played a major role in its selection as a research topic. Also, the fact that few people knew about it, gave general information about the event as a priority. This general information includes physical structure of Senirkent and the factors that contributed to the flood itself. After explaining the factors that played an active role in this natural disaster, its effects on the district were discussed. In this section, the physical effects of the disaster to the city and the material damages were explained, the solidarity among the people of the district and the help of the surrounding districts were mentioned.
