It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 15-16).Müzik, kültürün bir alt dalı olarak, farklı toplumların etkileşimi ile farklı tarzlarda evrimleşmiştir. Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet tarihinde görülen klasik müzik değişimi de böyledir. Bu araştırmada 19. Yüzyıldan başlayıp Cumhuriyet Dönemine kadar Türkiye’de müzikte yaşanan gelişmeler anlatılmış, ülkenin modernleşmesinde oynadığı rol detaylı bir şekilde irdelenmiştir. Buna ek olarak, Türkiye’de birçok alanda başarıları olan piyanist ve besteci Tuluyhan Uğurlu’nun hayatı özetlenmiş, Türk klasik müziğine ve Türk toplumuna sağladığı katkılardan bahsedilmiştir. Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nden itibaren Türkiye’de sanatın modernleşmeye başlaması ile birlikte gelişen Anadolu müziğini evrenselleştirme anlayışını anlamak için bu bestecinin eserlerini incelemek büyük önem taşımaktadır.Music, as a subbranch of culture, has developed into different styles as a result of interaction between different societies. Music in the Ottoman and Republican eras has also developed in a similar manner. This article elaborates on significant strides in Turkish music, spanning from the 19th century to the Republican period, as well as analyzing the role they have played in the modernization of the nation. In addition, the life of Tuluyhan Uğurlu, a pianist and compositor, who has achieved exceptional accomplishments in Turkey, is summarized, as well as his contributions to Turkish classical music and to Turkish society.
