It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Bu gerçek, yakın zamana kadar genel halk tarafından bilinmeyen, tarihte öne çıkmayan bir olay olarak kalmıştır. 1940’lardan itibaren Hasan Tahsin’in ilk kurşunu İzmir’de attığı akademik kaynaklarda ve toplumsal bilinçte yer edinmiştir. Günümüzde Dörtyol, Hataylıların çabaları ile ilk kurşunun atıldığı yer olarak bilinmeye ve öğretilmeye başlamıştır. Bu araştırma makalesinde, bu tarihsel karışıklığın nasıl geliştiği, nedenleri, ve nasıl çözüldüğü incelenmektedir.The first bullet of The Turkish Independence War was shot in Dörtyol, Hatay by Mehmet Kara in December of 1918. Until recently, this truth was unknown by the public and was a story that has not come into prominence in history. Since the 1940s, Hasan Tahsin shooting the first bullet had been prominent in academic sources and the people’s collective consciousness. Nowadays, Dörtyol is known and taught as the place where the first bullet has been shot at by the help of the people of Hatay.
