It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 26-27).1929 yılında İstanbul’da doğan Giovanni Scognamillo, Türkiye sinema ve edebiyatına büyük katkılarda bulunmuş önemli bir isimdir. Doğduğu ve hayatının büyük bölümünü geçirdiği Beyoğlu’ndaki çok kültürlü yapının onun üzerinde etkisi çok büyük olmuş, bir yandan Levanten kimliğini korurken bir yandan da Türk toplumuna kendi kuşağının büyük ölçüde başaramadığı şekilde entegre olmuştur. Ailesindeki sanata düşkünlükten de çok etkilenen Giovanni Scognamillo hayatı boyunca çok çeşitli sanat dallarıyla uğraşmış, en ünlü eserlerini ise sinema eleştirmenliği ve tarihçiliği ile korku edebiyatı üzerine vermiştir. Giovanni Scognamillo 2016 yılında İstanbul’da hayatını kaybetmiştir.Born in Istanbul in 1929, Giovanni Scognamillo is a significant person that made great contributions to cinema and literature in Turkey. Beyoğlu,where he was born and spent most of his life, and its multinational structure affected him deeply, while preserving his Levantine identity he also integrated into Turkish community in ways that his generation mostly could not achieve. Giovanni Scognamillo, who was also very impressed by his fondness for art in his family, worked in various branches of art throughout his life, and his most famous works were on cinema criticism and historiography and horror literature.
