It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 15-16).İzmir Havagazı Fabrikası; kentin ulaşılabilirlik açısından kolay olan ve ticari açıdan hareketli olan Alsancak, o zamanki adıyla Darağacı, bölgesinde kurulmuştur. Kuruluş amaçlarının başında aydınlatma ve ısıtma gelmektedir. Fabrikanın kurulmasıyla İzmir halkının yaşam standartları yükselmiş, güvenlikleri artmış ve halkın istihdam oranı yükselmiştir. Fabrikanın uzun bir süre sorunsuz bir şekilde işletilmesinin ardından, yönetim açısından zor duruma düşmesi sebebiyle İzmir Belediyesi tarafından devralınmıştır. Fabrika yenilenmiş, makineler otomatikleşmiş, havagazının metreküp fiyatında indirime gidilmiş ve fabrikanın değeri 30 kat artmıştır. Abonelik taleplerinin artmasından bir süre sonra fabrika taleplere yetişememeye başlamış ve çalkantılı bir döneme girmiştir. Eş zamanlı olarak elektriğin yaygınlaşması, fabrikanın teknolojinin gelişme hızına ayak uyduramaması, çevre kirliliğine sebep olması ve daimi olarak zarar etmeye başlaması sebebiyle fabrika 1994 yılında kapatılmıştır. 14 yılın ardından tarihi dokusu korunarak restore edilip yeniden açılmış ve kültür sanat etkinliklerinde kullanılmaya başlanmıştır.İzmir Coal Gas Factory was established in Alsancak, also was known as Darağacı, a very accessible and commercially active region of Izmir. Lighting and heating are the primary purposes of the establishment of the factory. Thus, the community's living standards, safety, and employment rate increased. After running the factory without any problems for a long time, employers faced some management issues. Hence, it was taken over by the Izmir Municipality. The factory was renovated, the machines became automated, the cubic meter price of gas was reduced, and the factory's value increased 30 times. However, after the subscription demands increased, the factory started to be unable to keep up with the needs and encountered many difficulties. At the same time, electricity became widespread; the factory was unable to keep up with the developments in technology, production of the coal gas caused pollution, the factory started to make losses, and thus, it was closed in 1994. After 14 years, it was restored by preserving its historical texture and opened again.
