It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Tarih boyunca, kapsamlı ve çok boyutlu bir musiki kültürünü de biriktirmeyi başarmıştır. İlhanlılar döneminden miras kalan Darüşşifa ve Mevlevihane'nin artan etkisinin, Osmanlı saray kültürünün Amasya'ya getirdiği estetik unsurlarla bir araya gelmesi, benzersiz bir musiki geleneğinin oluşmasında yardımcı olmuştur. Bu geleneğin yakın tarihteki bileşenlerinden biri, 1916 yılında Giriftzen Asım Bey tarafından kurulan ve Anadolu'nun ilk musiki cemiyeti olan Amasya Musiki Cemiyetidir. Türk müziğinin yasaklandığı dönemde bir süre kapalı kalan cemiyet, politik zorluklar ve toplumsal dönüşümlerin dinamikleriyle inişli çıkışlı bir yörünge izlemiştir. 1954'te yeniden açılarak canlanmış ve birçok önemli sanatçının yetişmesinde rol almıştır. Böylece Amasya musiki tarihinde bir dönüm noktası haline gelmiştir. Ancak günümüzde yaşanan ekonomik zorluklar, değişen eğlence kültürü ve müziğe olan tutumun değişimi cemiyeti zorlu bir döneme itmiştir.Amasya is acknowledged as a distinctive city where the history and cultures of numerous civilizations hybridize. Throughout history, it has managed to accumulate a comprehensive and multi-dimensional music culture. The growing influence of the Dar úúifa and Mevlevihane, which were inherited from the Ilkhanids era, coupled with the aesthetic elements that the Ottoman palace culture introduced to Amasya, has facilitated the emergence of a unique music tradition. A recent component of this tradition is the Amasya Music Society, the first music society in Anatolia, founded by Giriften Asım Bey in 1916. The society, which was closed for a period during the prohibition of Turkish music, has followed a fluctuating trajectory amid the dynamics of political challenges and societal transformations. It was reopened in 1954, hosting numerous leading artists and thus becoming a turning point in the music history of Amasya.
