It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 16-17).Genç yaşlarında sendikacılık faaliyetlerine başlayan üzeyir Kuran, hayatının sonuna kadar işçi hakları ve sendikacılık faaliyetleri ile uğraştı. 1923 yılındaki meşhur işçi grevinde büyük bir yer edinmiş olan Kuran, hayatının geri kalanında da işçilerin bir sesi olmaktan çekinmedi. 1950 yılında ise Avukat Dr. Orhan Arsal eşliğinde Demokrat İşçi Partisini kurdu. üzeyir Kuran bu partinin ikinci kurucusu olsa da partideki konumu işçiler tarafından “Baba” olarak görülürdü. Kuran, kişiliği doğrultusunda hem sendikacılar arasında hem de işçiler arasında saygıdeğer bir konuma sahipti. Demokrat İşçi Partisinde yaşanan sorun ve sıkıntılar doğrultusunda ise 1955’te partinin kapanması hakkında karar alındı. DİP’ in sonrasında ise işçi hakları ve sendikacılık ideolojilerinden ayrılmayan Kuran, hayatını bu alanlarda çalışmaya adamış oldu.Beginning his trade union activities in his early years, üzeyir Kuran devoted himself to helping workers and unionists by all means possible all throughout his life. üzeyir Kuran, who had gained a great position in the famous workers' strike in 1923, did not hesitate to be the voice of the workers for the rest of his life. In 1950, accompanied by Dr. Orhan Arsal, he founded the Democratic Labour Party. Although üzeyir Kuran was the second founder of this party, he was always regarded as ‘The Father’ by the workers. üzeyir Kuran had a respectable position among both the unionists and the workers in the direction of his personality. In line with the problems and troubles in the Democratic Labour Party, a decision was taken to close the party in 1955.
