It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 25-27).Kıbrıs sorunu, 1878 yılında ada yönetiminin İngilizlere geçmesiyle birlikte, adada yaşayan Rumların, adanın hakimiyetinin kendilerine ait olması gerektiğini savunan Enosis ideolojilerini sağlamak adına harekete geçmesiyle başlamıştır. Rumlar, uzun süredir bekledikleri yönetim değişikliğini fırsat bilerek yıllardır benimsedikleri Enosis ideolojisini, EOKA örgütü yoluyla gerçekleştirmek istedi. Bu durum karşısında ise adada yaşayan Türkler, Rum faaliyetlerinin zamanla kendilerini de tehdit etmesiyle, Türk varlığının adada her daim sürmesi gerektiğini savunan Taksim Tezi’ni benimsemiş ve Rumlara karşı TMT çatısı altında örgütlenmişlerdir. Bu proje, söz konusu ideoloji ve örgütleri ortaya çıkışları, teşkilatlanmaları ve faaliyetleri kapsamında inceler. Çatışmaları, toplumsal sorunları ve TMT direnişini, Serincan Ailesi ile yapılan röportajlardan yararlanarak anlatır. Serincan Ailesi hayatları boyunca Kıbrıs’ta yaşamış, Kanlı Noel Olayları’na birinci elden şahit olmuş, evlerinden ve işlerinden ayrılmaya mecbur edilmiş ve TMT’ye direniş için aktif bir şekilde destek vermiştir. Proje kapsamında sorunun ortaya çıkışı kadar, çözülmeye çalışılması da anlatılır. Siyasi hamlelerle çözümsüz kalan tarafların çatışması Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin, iki tarafa da barış getirmek için düzenlediği Kıbrıs Barış Harekatı ile son bulur ve Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti kurulur.The Cyprus Problem started when England took over the control over Cyprus and as a result of this, Greeks that live in the Island, started to increase their activity towards gaining control of the Island, under Enosisideology. Asthe long lasting Otooman reign in the Island came to an end, Greeks wanted to take this opportunity to become independent before the new English government settled in. They organised their attacks under the name EOKA and as the Turks that lived in the island tend to become a problem against their Enosis ideology, they started to turn their attacks against the Turks. As a result of this, Turks adopted the Taksim Thesis which is about the unquestionable validity of the Turkish presence in the island, and with the help of Turkey, they started the organisation named TMT in order to deal with EOKA attacks. This paper explains these ideologies and organisations in depth. The conflict between the two sides, public problems and the resistance of the TMT is explored under the remembrances of the Serincan Family. Various members of the Serincan Family lived in Cyprus while the events related to “Cyprus Problem'' took place. The members of the family were first hand witnesses of the incidents like “Bloody Christmas”, they had to let their work go and supported the Turkish resistance under TMT. The events that lead to the partial solution of the Cyprus Problem, such as the military operation of Turkey, was also included in this paper.
