It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Âşıklık geleneği incelendiğinde kadın âşıkların geri planda kaldığı görülmektedir. Kadın âşıklar arasında öne çıkan sayılı isimden biri olan Şahsenem Bacı, ömrü boyunca âşıklık geleneğine katkı sağlamış, toplumu bilinçlendirmek için çaba göstermiş önemli bir âşıktır. Bu çalışmada Şahsenem Bacı’nın eserlerinden, hakkında çıkan gazete haberlerinden, oğlu ve Prof. Dr. Sevilay Çınar ile yapılan röportajlardan faydalanarak Şahsenem Bacı’nın hayatı ve âşık kimliği anlatılmıştır. Şahsenem Bacı’nın yaşamı, kadınların âşıklık geleneği içindeki konumlarının ve birer âşık olarak yaşadıkları zorlukların anlaşılması için önem taşımaktadır.Minstrelsy, with its profound place in Turkish culture, is a tradition sustained by minstrels whose voice the poems and folk songs they have written accompanied by a baglama. When the minstrelsy tradition is inspected, it is seen that female minstrels have never been under the spotlight. Şahsenem Bacı, who was one of the few prominent names among female minstrels, has contributed to the minstrelsy tradition throughout her life and strived to raise awareness in society. In this work, Şahsenem Bacı's life and her identity as a minstrel were depicted by using her works, various studies, and news reports about her, and interviews done with her son, and Prof. Dr. Sevilay Çınar.
