It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Yazıda, adanın demografik ve sosyolojik yapısı, coğrafi ve fiziki özellikleri, mutfak kültürü, halkının beslenme alışkanlıkları, adanın karakterini ve kimliğini oluşturan mimari yapılar ve bu yapılar üzerinde yürütülen restorasyon faaliyetleri, ada içi ve adadan dışarı ulaşımın gelişimi gibi konulara yer verilmiştir. Proje hazırlanırken muhtelif makalelere, yükseköğretim tezlerine, turizm envanterlerine, kitaplara, dergilere, gazetelere, blog yazılarına ve sözlü kaynaklara başvurulmuştur. Cunda’nın popüler isimlerinden İbrahim Başkurt ve ada halkı arasında Adem Baba lakabıyla bilinen Adem Kaçar ile röportajlar yapılmıştır. Ayrıca adanın diğer bilindik isimlerinden olan Alihan Tavşan, Fevzi Tavşan, Mustafa Sevengül gibi isimlerle ön röportaj niteliğinde görüşmeler yürütülmüştür. İbrahim Başkurt, 80’li yaşlarındadır ve doğma büyüme Cundalıdır. Merhum Cunda Muhtarı Muharrem Başkurt’un ağabeyidir. Farklı yıllarda Ayvalık belediye başkanı yardımcılığı ve Ayvalık belediye meclisi üyeliği görevlerini yürütmüştür. Şu an ise günlerini Cunda’da yer alan zeytin ve zeytinyağı ürünleri sattığı kendi dükkanında geçirmektedir. Adem Baba (Adem Kaçar) 76 yaşındadır ve doğma büyüme Cundalıdır. Gençliğinde Cunda’da restorancılık ve Ayvalık’ta Anavatan Partisi için delegelik yapmıştır. Kendisi akıcı biçimde Yunanca ve Türkçe konuşmaktadır. Görüşülen diğer isimler adada işletmecilik, zeytincilik ve balıkçılık gibi adanın turistik tarihi açısından kritik öneme sahip meslekler ile iştigal etmiş insanlardır ve röportaj yapılan diğer isimler gibi doğma büyüme Cundalılardır.This article examines the touristic evolution and regional transformation of Cunda Island, also known as Alibey Island, throughout the history of the Turkish Republic, analyzing the developments that occurred on the island chronologically. The text covers various topics such as the demographic and sociological structure of the island, its geographical and physical features, culinary culture, dietary habits of the locals, architectural structures shaping the island's character and identity, as well as restoration activities carried out on these structures and the development of both intra-island and external transportation. Various articles, academic theses, tourism inventories, books, journals, newspapers, blog posts, and oral sources were consulted during the project's preparation. Interviews were conducted with İbrahim Başkurt, one of the popular figures in Cunda, and Adem Kaçar, known as Adem Baba among the locals. Additionally, preliminary interviews were held with other well-known figures on the island, such as Alihan Tavşan, Fevzi Tavşan, and Mustafa Sevengül. İbrahim Başkurt is in his 80s and is a native of Cunda. He is the brother of the late Cunda Headman Muharrem Başkurt. At different times, he has served as the deputy mayor of Ayvalık and as a member of the Ayvalık municipal council. Currently, he spends his days in his shop in Cunda, selling olives and olive oil products. Adem Baba (Adem Kaçar) is 76 years old and is also a native of Cunda. In his youth, he worked in the restaurant industry in Cunda and served as a delegate for the Motherland Party in Ayvalık. He is fluent in both Greek and Turkish. The other individuals interviewed are and were engaged in occupations critical to the island's tourism history, such as running businesses, olive cultivation, and fishing.
