It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 15).Hüseyin Özer, Londra’da Sofra restoran zincirinin sahibi Türk asıllı bir şeftir. Özer, çocukluğunda terk edilmiş ve erken yaşta zorlu şartlar altında çalışmak zorunda kalmıştır. Özer, yirmi bir yaşında Türkiye’den ayrılıp Londra’ya yerleşerek bir restoran sahibi olmuş ve sonunda dünyaya Türk mutfağını tanıtan, İngiliz Kraliyet Ailesine yemek hazırlayan, ünlü belgesel kanalı Discovery Channel’ın araştırmasına konu olan başarılı bir şef olmuştur. Bununla birlikte, kendisinin kaleme almış olduğu ve dünyaca ünlü mutfaklarda kullanılan “Sofra Cookbook” adlı bir yemek kitabı da vardır. Daha sonra gençlere yardım etmek için Özer Vakfını ve Özer Akademisini kurmuştur. Bu projede, Hüseyin Özer’in yaşamı, yaşadığı zorluklar ve başarıları anlatılacaktır.Hüseyin Özer is a Turkish chef who founded the Sofra Restaurant chain based in London, England. Özer had to leave his family at a young age and provide for himself under difficult circumstances. When he was twenty one, he left Turkey and settled in London, where he got to have his own restaurant. Eventually this led to him becoming a successful chef who teaches the world Turkish cuisine, serves food for the British royal family and has his own documentary on Discovery Channel. He wrote a culinary book that carries the same name as his franchise, “Sofra Cookbook”, which is used in famous kitchens around the world. In order to help youth in need and support aspiring students, he created the Özer Foundation and Özer Academy.
