It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 18).Nilgün Marmara 1958 yılında İstanbul’da doğmuş, Maarif Koleji ve Boğaziçi Üniversitesi’nde eğitimini tamamlamıştır. Lisans bitirme tezini Sylvia Plath üzerine yazmıştır. Sylvia Plath’ın sanatından ekilenmiş ve ölüm üzerine şiirler ve metinler yazmıştır. Yazılarındaki ölüm teması onu bilindik bir şair yapmıştır. 29 yaşında balkondan atlayarak intihar etmiştir. Ölümünün sebebi olarak birçok spekülasyon ortaya atılmıştır. İntiharı sonrasında yazıları yayımlanmış ve bunun sonucunda 80’ler şairleri arasında yer edinmiştir.Nilgün Marmara was born in 1958, İstanbul and completed her education respectively in Maarif College and Boğaziçi University. She wrote her Bachelor’s Thesis on Sylvia Plath. She was influenced by Plath’s art and went on to write texts and poems about death. The theme of death in her works made her a recognizable poet. She committed suicide at the age of 29 by jumping off a balcony. Many speculations were raised about her cause of death.
