It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 17-19).Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nin Sovyetler Birliği ile sürdürdüğü uzay yarışındaki en büyük başarısı olarak kabul edilen Apollo 11 ekibinin Ay yolculuğu 16 ve 24 Temmuz 1969 tarihleri arasında gerçekleşti. Bu makalede, Ay yolculuğunun Türk medyasına nasıl yansıdığı, 1969 yılının Temmuz ve Kasım ayları arasındaki gazete ve dergi haberlerinin Batı bloğunun siyasi başarısı, insanlığın bilimsel başarısı, Türkiye’nin geri kalmışlığı, kaynakların israfı ve gündemi dağıtmak başlıkları altında sınıflandırılmasıyla incelendi. Türk basınının kullandığı üslup dikkate alınarak dönemin siyasi, ekonomik ve sosyal durumunun haberleri nasıl etkilediği değerlendirildi.Apollo 11’s journey to the Moon, which was considered as the United States of America’s biggest success against the Soviet Union in their ongoing space race, was conducted between 16 and 24th of July, 1969. In this article, how the Turkish media reflected and narrated the news about the journey to the Moon is examined. The news in both journals and newspapers between July and November, 1969 are classified under five parts, which are the success of West block, the scientific success of mankind, the backwardness of Turkey, the waste of resources and digression from the current problems in Turkey.
