It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 18-19).İşletim sistemleri bilgisayarların çalışmaları açısından en önemli yazılım birimleridir. Linux da farklı işletim sistemi alternatiflerinden bir tanesi olmakla beraber, açık kaynak kodlu olması, özgür bir yazılım olması, sahip olduğu “topluluk odaklı geliştirme” felsefesi ve yüksek kişiselleştirilebilirliği itibariyle denklerinden ayrılmaktadır. Bu araştırma kapsamında Linux’un Türkiye’ye gelişi, Türkiye’de yayılması, Türkiye’nin Linux projesine olan katkıları ve Türkiye içerisinde yapılan Linux geliştirmeleri incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Linux’un Türkiye’deki tarihinin neredeyse her noktasında yer almış olan Linux Kullanıcıları Derneği’nin de tarihi süreci, dönemler bazında ele alınmış ve Derneğin gerek kuruluşundan önceki gerek kuruluşundan sonraki dönemlerinde görev almış kişilerle röportajlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Türkiye’nin yazılım geliştirme konusunda attığı en büyük adımlarda kendine önemli yer bulmuş olan Linux’un Türkiye’deki tarihini anlamak, insanlık teknoloji ve bilişim çağı içerisinde emin adımlarla ilerlerken, Türkiye’nin bu duruma ne kadar ayak uydurabildiğini de anlayabilmek açısından büyük önem arz etmektedir.Operating systems are the most crucial units of software for the functioning of computers. Alongside being one of the operating system alternatives, Linux stands out for being open-source, being free software, having a “community-driven development” philosophy and being highly customizable. For the purposes of this research paper, Linux’s arrival in Turkey, its spread in Turkey, Turkey’s contributions to the Linux project and Linux development processes that took place in Turkey have been researched. Also the historical process of Linux Users’ Foundation which was present in almost all points of the history of Linux in Turkey has been looked into in an era-based approach and people who have been actively involved in both the pre-Foundation and post-Foundation era of the Linux Users’ Foundation have been interviewed.
