It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 18).Antalya’da bulunan ve Demir Çağından bile eski bir tarihi olan Patara Antik Kenti son 250 yıldır araştırma camiasının yoğun bir ilgisi altındadır. Yüzeysel keşif çalışmalarından sonra 1988 yılında Erzurum Atatürk Üniversitesi adına Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığına başvuran Fahri Işık ve ekibi kazılara başladı. Kazı çalışması Arkeoloji bilimi ve Turizm açısından oldukça önemliydi. Kazılar Arkeoloji bilimine katkı sağlamıştır. Çünkü kazılardan keşfedilen buluntular akademik yayınlar için önemli birer bilgi kaynağı oldular. Aynı zamanda turistik bir bölgede bulunan Patara Antik Kenti, yılda önemli bir miktar turist çekmektedir.Patara Ancient City, which is located in Antalya and has a history even older than the Iron Age, has a great interest of the research community of the last 250 years. After surface operations, Fahri Işık and his team started excavations for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on behalf of Erzurum Atatürk University in 1988. The excavation work was very important in terms of Archeology and Tourism. Excavations contribute to the science of Archeology. Because the finds discovered during the excavations became an important source of information for academic publications.
