It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 20-22).Ulus baker polimat karakterli bir akademisyen ve yazardır. Annesi Kıbrıslı bir şair, babası psikiyatri doktoru olan ve 1960’ta İstanbul’da doğan Ulus Baker, küçüklüğünden beri süregelen ve farklı alanlarda kendini belli eden yetenekleriyle özellikle akranları arasında emsalsiz bir kişilik sergilemiştir. Bu yazıda, Baker’in bu kişiliği incelenmekle beraber ilginç geçen çocukluğuna, öğrenim hayatına, eserleriyle Türkiye’ye ve dünyaya kazandırdıklarına, akranlarında, öğrencilerinde ve dostlarında bıraktığı etkiye odaklanılmıştır. Bu noktada Baker’i efsaneleştiren ve onun hayatını ilginçleştiren noktalara değinilmekle beraber, Baker hakkındaki doğrular da aktarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Baker 2007 yılında hayata gözlerini yummuştur. Vefatının ardından geride bıraktığı eserleri ve fikirleri devam ettirebilmek amacıyla Körotonomedya gibi topluluklar faaliyet göstermekte, Ortadoğu Teknik Üniversitesi’nde Ulus Baker Buluşmaları düzenlenmektedir.Ulus Baker was an academician and a writer with his multidisciplinary knowledge. His mother was a Cypriot poet and his father was a psychiatrist. He was born in 1960 in Istanbul. Baker was having a very unique characteristic that his life became easily distinguishable from its peers even in his childhood. Through this article, this incredible personality of Baker will be examined. Specifically, his outstanding childhood, his education in various fields, his impact on Turkey and the world, as well as his peers and students, are going to be focused through the article. At this point, the article describes what makes him legendary as well as revealing the truths about his life. Baker passed away in 2007.
