It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Araştırmanın amacı; bu hastalıkların Türkiye’ye girişini, yayılımını ve toplumda yarattığı etkileri analiz etmektir. Bu bağlamda, döneme ait gazete kupürleri ve akademik makaleler gibi yazılı kaynaklar taranmış; aynı zamanda HATAM’ın kurucularından Dr. Aygen Tümer, Uzm. Dr. Tayfun Güngör ve cinsel sağlık aktivisti Umut Güner ile sözlü tarih yöntemine dayalı röportajlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile, cinsel sağlık alanında karşılaşılan zorlukların daha iyi anlaşılmasını ve toplumsal farkındalığın artırılması hedeflenmektedir. Bu araştırma, geçmişin sorunlarını ortaya koyduğu için gelecek için rehber niteliği taşımaktadır.Abstract This article examines the medical, social, and media-related background of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, and HPV in 1980s-1990s Turkey. The aim of the research is to analyze the appearance, spread, and societal impacts of these diseases in Turkey in the specified time frame. In this context, written sources such as newspaper clippings and academic articles focusing on this period were reviewed; and oral history-based interviews were conducted with Dr. Aygen Tümer, one of the founders of HATAM, sexual health activist Umut Güner and Dr. Tayfun Güngör. Furthermore, this research aims to enhance the understanding of the challenges faced in sexual health and raise societal awareness.
