It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 20-22).II. Meşrutiyet döneminde hayat bulan paramiliter gençlik kuruluşları, savaş döneminin getirdiği koşullar ve ihtiyaçlar neticesinde, milleti topyekün savaşa hazırlama ve silahlandırma konularında önemli bir yere sahiptir. İlk kez Avrupa’da ortaya çıkan bu kuruluşlar, harp sürecinde de ülkeye katkıda bulunmuşlardır. Bu araştırmada, paramiliter gençlik örgütlerinin ortaya çıktığı dönemde birincil kaynak olarak yayımlanmış nizamnamelerden, beyannamelerden, Miralay Mustafa Kemal paşanın örgütler ile ilgili raporundan, dönemin gazete haberlerinden ve ekler olarak dönemin fotoğraflarından yararlanılmıştır. Aynı zamanda ikincil kaynaklardan da yararlanılarak paramiliter gençlik kuruluşlarının kuruluşları, amaçları, faaliyetleri ve harp sürecindeki yaptıkları faaliyetleri anlatılmıştır. Dönemin gençlerinin çoğu güçsüz ve zihinsel olarak askerliğe ve savaşa hazır değillerdi. Bu sorunu bertaraf etmek için izciliği, beden eğitimini ve askeri eğitimleri temel taşı olarak alan paramiliter gençlik örgütleri kurulmuştur. Bu araştırmada, paramiliter gençlik örgütlerinin, özellikle Balkan Savaşı’nda alınan yenilgiler sonrasında, çocukları bedenen ve zihnen askere hazırlamak amacı ile kuruldukları ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Birinci Dünya Savaşı süresince, savaşın getirdiği ihtiyaçlar nedeni ile Osmanlı Devleti içerisinde bulunan tüm gençlerin, örgütlere zorunlu üyeliği zorunlu kılınmıştır ve örgütlenme çalışmaları yapılmıştır ancak savaş koşulları nedeni ile bu durum örgütlerin faaliyetlerini ve yapılarını aksatmıştır.The paramilitary youth organizations which were born in the second Constitutional Monarchy, in terms of the conditions and needs of the war period, has an important place in the preparation of the total war and nation arming. These organizations which first appeared in Europe, also contributed to the country in the war process. In this study, in the period when paramilitary youth organizations emerged, regulations, declarations, the report of Miralay Mustafa Kemal Pasha about organizations, old newspaper news and photographs of the period as an adds is used by primary sources. At the same time, their organizations, their aims, their activities and activities in the war period have described by exploiting secondary sources. Most of the young people in the period were weak and mentally unprepared for military service and war. In order to overcome this problem, paramilitary youth organizations have been established that take scouting, physical education and military training as a cornerstone of education. In this research, it is revealed that paramilitary youth organizations were founded with aim of preparing the children physically and mentally to the war, especially after the defeat in the Balkan War. During the World War I, all young people in the Ottoman empire were obliged to participate to the organizations due to the necessities of the war, and organization studies were made.
