It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 18).Şefik Yılmaz Dizdar 1939 yılında Safranbolu’nun Akçasu Mahallesinde doğdu. Çocukluğunu ve ilköğretim hayatını Safranbolu’da geçirdikten sonra İzmir İktisadi ve Ticari İlimler Akademisini bitirdi. İki sene süren askerliğini de tamamlayıp iş hayatına Karabük Demir Çelik Fabrikasında başladı. 1961-1979 yılları arasında Karabük Demir Çelik İşletmelerinde farkı pozisyonlarda çalıştı. İstifasından sonra demir çelik ticareti yapmak için İstanbul'a taşındı ve o dönemde süregelen İran-Irak Savaşı sonucunda demir çelik piyasasında oluşan fırsatları değerlendirdi. Bu sektörde elde ettiği sermaye sayesinde ortağı Mustafa Küçükle tekstil alanına girerek Türkiye ekonomisine katkıda bulunmuştur. Memleketi olan Safranbolu’ya kültürel, ticari ve turizm alanlarında katkıda bulunan Şefik Yılmaz Dizdar, bugün hayatına Safranbolu’da devam etmektedirŞefik Yılmaz Dizdar was born in 1939 in the Akçasu District of Safranbolu. After spending his childhood and primary school life in Safranbolu, he graduated from the Izmir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. He completed his military service for two years and started his business life in Karabük Demir Çelik Factory. Between 1961-1979, he worked in different positions in Karabük Demir Çelik Works. After his resignation, he moved to Istanbul to trade in iron and steel and took advantage of the opportunities in the iron and steel market as a result of the ongoing Iran-Iraq War. Thanks to the capital gained in this sector has contributed to partner Mustafa Küçük entering Turkey's economy in the textile field.
