It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 14).Müzik insanın yaşadığı psikolojik sıkıntıları ifade edebilmesi ve insanın kendisini tedavi edebilmesine yardımcı olan bir sanat dalıdır. Zamanında siyahiler için bir kendini ifade etme aracı olan caz müziği standartların dışında olup, kuralsızlığıyla cazı tercih eden sanatçıları belli kalıpların dışında tutmuştur. Türkiye'de caz müzik günümüzdeki konumunu ise belirli sanatçılar borçludur. Bunlardan biri de ilk özel konservatuar niteliğindeki Çatı Kulübünün kurucusu olan İlham Gencer'dir. Araştırmada Gencer'in yaşamındaki bazı dönüm noktaları ulaşılan kaynaklar doğrultusunda incelenmiştir. Aynı zamanda araştırmada sanatçının siyasi seçimlerinin kariyerini ve müziğini ne yönde etkilediği de bağdaştırılarak gösterilmiştir.Music is a branch of art that helps people to express their psychological distress and to treat themselves. Jazz music, which was a means of self-expression for blacks in its time, was outside the standards and kept out of certain patterns the artists who preferred jazz with its lack of rules. Jazz music in Turkey owes its present position to certain artists. One of them is Ilham Gencer, the founder of the first private conservatory roof Club. In the research, some turning points in Gencer's life were examined in line with the sources reached.
