It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Bina, pek çok Cumhuriyet dönemi eserine ev sahipliği yapan Ankara Ulus’ta bulunmaktadır. Kurtuluş Savaşı’nın ardından, bir ulus inşaa etme fikrini temel alan Birinci Ulusal Mimari Akımın popülarite kazandığı Erken Cumhuriyet döneminde inşa edilen bu apartman, akıma ait diğer eserlerle çeşitli benzerlikler ve farklılıklar göstermektedir. Aynı zamanda Ankara’nın ilk asansörlü ve kaloriferli binasıdır. Ankara’nın başkent oluşunun ardından şehirleşme ve modernleşme sürecinde adı geçen bir yapı olan bu bina, günümüzde kullanılamaz durumda, kapısına kilit vurulmuş bir şekilde beklemektedir. Bu duruma son vermek için ABB meclisi, binanın restorasyonuna ve müzeleştirilme çalışmalarına başlanması için karar almış, lakin bu çabalar, bina sahipleriyle yaşanan iletişim kopuklukları ve anlaşmazlıklar sebebiyle sonuçsuz kalmıştır.The Erzurumlu Nafiz Bey apartment was built by Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu in 1922 according to Nafiz Kotan’s wishes. The apartment is located in Ulus, Ankara, which is the district that contains multiple early 20th century buildings. This apartment building, built during the Early Republic period when the First National Architectural Movement, based on the idea of building a nation, gained popularity after the War of Independence, shows various similarities and differences with other works of the movement. It is also Ankara's first building with an elevator and central heating. This building, which had a role in the urbanization and modernization process after Ankara became the capital, is now unusable and its door is locked.
