It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Aile yaşantısı ve çocukluk döneminden başlayarak, eğitim hayatının temel aşamalarına, yurtdışında aldığı eğitimin etkilerine, Olşen'in kütüphanecilik alanındaki ilk adımlarına ve kadın olarak kendisinin toplumsal normlar içindeki yerine odaklanan makale bu konuları detaylı bir şekilde ele almaktadır. Ayrıca, ODTÜ Kütüphanesi'nin kuruluş sürecindeki motivasyonu, arka planı ve Furuzan Olşen'in bu süreçteki aktif rolü de incelenmektedir. Makalenin yazılabilmesi için Furuzan Olşen’in kızı Şemsa Olşen Güzeldere ve eski iş arkadaşı Hatice Onur ile röportaj yapılmış, Furuzan Olşen ile alakalı internette ve yazılı basındaki kaynaklar araştırılmıştır. Bu makale, Türk kütüphanecilik tarihine önemli bir katkı sunmak amacıyla Furuzan Olşen'in yaşamı ve mesleki kariyeri üzerine derinlemesine bir anlayış sunmaktadır.The article is a comprehensive study examining the life and career of Furuzan Olşen, one of Turkey's first female library directors. Starting from her family life and childhood, the article delves into the fundamental stages of her educational journey, the impact of her education abroad, her initial steps in the field of librarianship, and her societal position as a woman. Focusing on the perceptions of women leaders, societal expectations of the time, and how these factors influenced her career, the article provides an in-depth exploration of these topics. Furthermore, it investigates the motivation and background behind the establishment of the ODTÜ Library and Furuzan Olşen's active role in this process. To write the article, interviews were conducted with Furuzan Olşen's daughter, Şemsa Olşen Güzeldere, and former colleague Hatice Onur. Additionally, various online and print sources related to Furuzan Olşen were researched.
