It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Bu belge, Bilkent Üniversitesi'nin HIST200 dersi için hazırlanan bir araştırma makalesi taslağıdır ve 1970'lerde Türkiye'den Fransa'ya göç eden Şahin ailesinin hikayesini inceler. Makale, 8 Nisan 1965'te Türkiye ile Fransa arasında imzalanan iş gücü anlaşması sonrası Türk halkının Fransa'ya iş arama sürecini ve bu süreçteki ekonomik ve sosyal dinamikleri anlatır. Şahin ailesinin kökenleri, Türkiye'deki yaşamları, Fransa'ya göç hazırlıkları, ilk zorluklar ve uyum süreçlerine odaklanır. Göçmenlerin yeni kültürlere entegrasyon zorlukları, başarıları ve karşılaştıkları ayrımcılık ele alınırken, sosyal ve kültürel entegrasyon çabaları, Türk topluluğuyla ilişkiler ve kuşaklar arası etkileşimler üzerinde durulur. Şahin ailesinin deneyimleri, göçün bireyler ve toplumlar üzerindeki etkilerini ve göçmen politikalarının geliştirilmesine yönelik içgörüler sunarak, göçün sadece fiziksel bir hareket olmadığını, aynı zamanda sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik bir dönüşüm süreci olduğunu vurgular.This document is a research paper draft prepared for Bilkent University's HIST200 course and examines the story of the Şahin family, who immigrated from Turkey to France in the 1970s. The article describes the process of Turkish people looking for jobs in France after the labor force agreement signed between Turkey and France on April 8, 1965, and the economic and social dynamics in this process. It focuses on the origins of the Şahin family, their life in Turkey, their preparations for immigration to France, their first difficulties, and their adaptation processes. While the difficulties and successes of immigrants in integrating into new cultures and the discrimination they face are discussed, social and cultural integration efforts, relations with the Turkish community, and intergenerational interactions are emphasized.
