It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 24-25).Türk mühendisler 1940’larda Türkiye’nin gelişmesinde rol sahibi meslek gruplarından biridir. Mustafa İnan bu dönemin önemli figürlerindendir. 1911 yılında Adana’da mütevazı bir ailenin çocuğu olarak dünyaya gelen İnan, İsviçre’deki Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Üniversitesi’nde doktora çalışmasını tamamlayarak zamanın önde gelen mühendislerinden biri olmuştur. Sahip olduğu güncel mühendislik bilgileriyle Türkiye’de birçok genci eğitmiş; İngilizce, Türkçe ve Almanca dillerinde makaleler yayınlamıştır. Çevirdiği birçok eser ve düzenlediği kongrelerle Türk mühendisliğinin öncülerinden biri olmuştur. Sadece mühendislik dalında değil Süleyman Demirel, Oğuz Atay ve Yahya Kemal gibi farklı alanlardan dönemin birçok tanınan isminin saygısını kazanmıştır. Bu çalışmada Mustafa İnan’ın başta mühendislik olmak üzere nitelikleri, zamanının ve günümüz Türkiye’sine etkileri, bilime katkısı anlatılmıştır.Turkish engineers were one of the key factors of the development of Turkey in the 1940s. Mustafa Inan was an important figure of this era. Inan was born in 1911 to a family of the middle class. He successfully received his doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and this made him one of the leading engineers in his profession. With the up-to-date engineering knowledge, he has educated Turkish youth and published many papers in a variety of languages such as English, Turkish and German. He has been one of the leading personalities of Turkish engineering with the conferences he has organised and translations he has made. Not only in the area of engineering but also in other areas, he has gained the respect of many well-known people of his era such as Suleyman Demirel, Oguz Atay and Yahya Kemal.
