It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 21-23).Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı, 1974’te Kıbrıs adasında hem Rum hem Türk halkına huzur ve barış götürmek adına gerçekleştirilmiş ve Türk ordusunun başarısı ile sonuçlanmıştır. Türk ordusu harekât süresince hava, kara ve denizden müdahaleleri eş zamanlı olarak başarılı şekilde yürütmüştür. Bu harekatta hava kuvvetlerinde önemli rol oynayan kahramanlardan biri de jet pilotu Osman Alp’tir. Osman Alp hayatının 29 yılını Türk ordusuna adamış ve Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtında bir bombardıman filosu olan 171. Filoda çarpışmıştır. Bu yazıda kendisinin hatıralarından ve fotoğraf arşivinden faydalanılarak Kıbrıs Barış Harekatının iç yüzü anlatılmış ve bir pilotun eğitiminden emekliliğine kadar olan deneyimleri aktarılmıştır. Kıbrıs Barış Harekatı’nda özellikle hava kuvvetleri mensuplarının yüz yüze geldiği zorlukların ve ordu mensuplarının gözünde harekatın öneminin anlaşılmasında Osman Alp’in hayat hikayesi büyük önem taşımaktadır. Aynı zamanda hem askeri hem sivil pilot olarak görev yapan Osman Alp’in hatıraları Türk havacılığında kat edilen sürece ışık tutmaktadır.The Turkish Invasion of Cyprus was carried out in 1974 in order to bring peace and tranquility to both the Greek and Turkish people on the island of Cyprus and resulted in the success of the Turkish army. During the operation, the Turkish army successfully carried out air, ground and naval interventions simultaneously. One of the heroes who played an important role in the air force in this operation is jet pilot Osman Alp. Osman Alp devoted 29 years of his life to the Turkish army and fought in the 171. Fleet, a bomber squadron, during the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus. In this article, the interior of the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus was explained by making use of his memories and photographic archive, and the experiences of a pilot from his training to his retirement were conveyed. Osman Alp's life story is of great importance in understanding the difficulties faced by the members of the air force in the Cyprus Peace Operation and the importance of the operation in the eyes of the members of the army.
