It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Bu bağlamda, ilk olarak Kış Olimpiyatlarının tarihsel olarak ortaya çıkışı, Kış Olimpiyatlarına Türkiye’nin katılımı, Türkiye’nin kış sporlarıyla ilgisinin ve kış olimpiyat performansının değerlendirilmesi ele alınmıştır. Devamında ise Bingöl’ün Türkiye’deki kış sporları alanına katılımının artmasına, bunun spor alanındaki yansımasına ve bireysel kimlik inşasındaki tarihsel önemine Cevdet Can bağlamında değinilmiştir. Ardından yazının asıl konusu olan Cevdet Can’ın biyografisi detaylandırılarak bahsi geçen bağlamlar bir biyografi üzerine oturtulmuştur.This article aims to shed light on the sports career of national athlete Cevdet Can, who has been engaged in sports both as an amateur and a professional for many years, and to provide detailed information about his socio-cultural and socio-economic life. In this context, firstly, the historical emergence of the Winter Olympics, Turkey's participation in the Winter Olympics, the evaluation of Turkey's interest in winter sports, and its Winter Olympic performance are discussed. Furthermore, the increasing involvement of Bingöl in the field of winter sports in Turkey, its reflection in the sports field, and its historical significance in individual identity construction are addressed in the context of Cevdet Can.
