It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Sanatla bezenmiş hayatı, yazmış olduğu şiirler, yaptığı çizimler ile oldukça ilgi çekici sanatsal kişiliğinin yanı sıra sanatının temelini oluşturan yaşantısı bu makalenin ana konusudur. Kendisine dair yapılan araştırmaların trajik ölümü ya da eserleri üzerine olması ve hayatına dair detaylı ve yeterli bilginin bulunmaması nedeniyle kapsamlı ve detaylı bir araştırmaya gereksinim duyulmuştur. Bu makalede Metin Altıok’un zorlu çocukluğu, annesiyle olan karmaşık ilişkisi, Ankara Üniversitesi’ndeki eğitim yılları, Füsun Akatlı ile evliliği, kendisinin şair olarak ortaya çıkışı, kariyeri, siyasi duruşu ve ölümü farklı kaynaklar taranarak araştırılmıştır ve bu konularda kendisine dair detaylı bilgiler sunulmak hedeflenmiştir. Ne yazık ki Madımak Olayından sonra gündeme gelen Metin Altıok’un ölümü yerine ortaya koymuş olduğu eserlerin ve hayatının öğrenilmesi bu makalenin ana hedefidir.Metin Altıok is one of our important poets who lived between 1941-1993. His life full of art, the poems he wrote, the drawings he made and his very interesting artistic personality as well as his life, which forms the basis of his works, is the main subject of this article. A comprehensive and detailed research was required due to the fact that the majority of the research done on him is about his tragic death or his works and there is no detailed and sufficient information about his life. In this article, Metin Altıok's difficult childhood, his complicated relationship with his mother, his years of education at Ankara University, his marriage to Füsun Akatlı, his emergence as a poet, his career, his political stance and his death are explored through different sources and the aim is to provide detailed information about him.
