It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 16-19).Kültür Varlıkları ve Müzeler Genel Müdürlüğü, Osmanlı dönemindeki müzecilik faaliyetleri ve arkeolojik kazı çalışmalarını devam ettiren, çalışma prensipleri Osmanlı döneminde belirlenmeye başlanan ülkedeki kültürel varlıkları odak noktasına koymuş bir kurumdur. Yetki alanı oldukça geniştir. Kaçakçılıkla mücadelede ve kültürel varlıkların restorasyonunda da görev alır. Bu faaliyetlerin gerçekleştirilmesindeki süre boyunca altında bulundurduğu ilgili müdürlüklerle birlikte süreci bir bütün olarak takip eder ve gerekliliklerin yapıldığından emin olur. Bu araştırmada Kültür Varlıkları ve Müzeler Genel Müdürlüğünün tarihçesi ve yukarıda belirtilmiş olan alanlardaki faaliyetleri detaylıca anlatılacaktır. Aynı zamanda eski müzecilik faaliyetlerine ve ülke topraklarında gerçekleştirilen bazı kaçakçılık vakalarına da değinilecektir.The General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums is the institution that maintains museum activities and archaeological excavations of Ottoman Empire and, its working principles have been starting to be determined during Ottoman period. It focuses on cultural properties. It has wide jurisdiction. The General Directorate also operates fighting with smuggling and restoration of cultural properties. During the period of realization of these activities, it follows the process as a whole with the relevant departments under it and makes sure that the requirements are met. In this study, the history of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums and its activities in the areas which are mentioned above will be explained in detail.
