It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 21-22).Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi 1898 yılında kurulmuş olup köklerini Osmanlı Devleti’nden almış olan bir kurumdur. 1986 yılında ise ek olarak GATA bünyesinde Havacılık ve Uzay Tıbbı Anabilim Dalı kurulmuştur. Bu kurum kurulduğu dönemlerde dünyada sayılı kurumlardan olmakla beraber, askeri havacılık alanında büyük bir devrim niteliğindedir. Bu araştırmada, bölümün tarihçesi, Havacılık ve Uzay Tıbbı Anabilim Dalı’nın neden ilk başta Türkiye’de kurulduğu, dönemde yapılan araştırmalar, 1980’li yıllarda Askeri Tıp alanında NATO’nun etkileri ve Havacılık ve Uzay Tıbbı’nın bugün geldiği nokta konu edilecektir. Konuyla ilgili eski Havacılık ve Uzay Tabibi olan Mustafa Şengezer’in konu ile ilgili görüşlerinden de yararlanılmıştır.Gülhane Military Medical Academy was established in 1898 and taken its roots from the Ottoman Empire. As an addition, Aviation and Space Medicine Department in 1986, it was established under the Gülhane Military Medical Academy. Not only when it was established, it was one of the first departments established in the world, but also it is a revolutionary implementation in military aviation. In this research, topics such as the history of the department, the reason why the department was established in Turkey, research done at the time it was first established, the impact of NATO on the Military Medicine system in the 1980s and the recent situation of the department.
