It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 16).Mustafa Suha Arın, Türk televizyon ve yayıncılık tarihinde getirdiği yenilikler ve kendine has tarzıyla Türk medyasında önemli bir yer edinmiş olan ve Türk belgeselciliğine sayısız katkıda bulunmuş bir yönetmendir. Bu araştırma kapsamında, Suha Arın’ın hayatı ve onun Türk belgeselciliğine olan katkıları mercek altına alınmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, Suha Arın’ın yaşamındaki önemli olaylar, çektiği belgesellerin içeriği ve amacının yanı sıra, Arın’ın eserlerinin uğradığı sansürler ve yasaklamalar, onun etkin olduğu dönemin sosyal ve politik çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Araştırmamız sonucunda, Suha Arın’ın saf bilgi vermeye yönelik belgesel anlayışını değiştirmeyi amaçlamasının yanı sıra tarih bilincini geliştirmek istediği tespit edilmiştir. Arın’ın ona ve eserlerine uygulanan yasaklamaları incelenmiş, yorumlanmış, ve onun görüşleri hakkında çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur.Mustafa Suha Arın, is a Turkish director who became an important figure in Turkish broadcasting history due to the unique and innovative ideas he possessed, and his contributions to the Turkish documentaries. This paper covers his life and his contributions to the Turkish documentarism. With this purpose, impactful events in his life, documentaries he directed and censorships applied to his work, was critically examined.
