It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 15).In this research made for the HIST 200 course run by the Bilkent University, the life of Prof. Dr. Mehmed Said Hatiboğlu who has achieved significant accomplishments and contributed greatly to the field of Hadith is studied. Mehmet Said Hatiboğlu was born in 1993 in Burdur with his twin brother Ahmet. As he was advancing on his way to become an engineer, his life changed with the death of his father and he decided to pursue Theology with the legacy of his father. After he graduated from the Faculty of Theology of Ankara University, he got promoted to hadith assistant. He became an associate professor in 1967 and a doctor in 1978 and he continued working in Ankara University. His works in hadith contributed immensly to the field. Beside from his main academic work, he also showed interest to many fields such as music and islamic calligraphy.Bilkent üniversitesi’nin HIST 200 dersi kapsamında hazırlanmış olan araştırma yazısı olarak hazırlanan bu çalışmada hadis konusunda kayda değer başarılara imza atmış olan Prof. Dr. Mehmed Said Hatiboğlu’nun hayatı çalışıldı. Mehmed Said Hatiboğlu, 1933 yılında ikiz kardeşi Ahmet ile beraber Burdur’da dünyaya geldi. Mühendis olma yolunda ilerlerken babasının vefatı ile hayatı değişti ve babasının mirası ile İlahiyat alanında kariyerine yön vermeyi seçti. 1958 yılında Ankara üniversitesi İlahiyat fakültesini bitirdikten sonra hadis asistanlığına tayin edildi. 1967 yılında doçent, 1978 yılında ise doktor oldu ve çalışmalarına Ankara üniversitesi İlahiyat fakültesinde devam etti. Kendisi hadis alanında yaptığı çalışmaları ile bu alana büyük katkılarda bulundu.
