It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 20-21).Müzik geçmiş dönemlerden beri askeri alanda eğitici, disipline edici ve moral verici bir araç olarak görülmüştür. Türk tarihine bakıldığında, geçmiş devletlerde bando-tarzı oluşumların olduğu gözlemlenmektedir. Bu bando-tarzı oluşumların günümüzdeki en önemli temsilcilerinden biri TSK Armoni Mızıkasıdır. Bu makalede TSK Armoni Mızıkası çerçevesinde Türkiye’de askeri bandolar tarihi incelenmiştir. Askeri alanda bandoların tarihi, Osmanlı Devleti’nden detaylı olarak araştırılmaya başlanmış, eski Türk devletlerindeki örneklerine de yer verilmiştir. Bu tarihsel süreci araştırmak için öncelikle Osmanlı Devleti’nden itibaren günümüze kadar elde edilen yazılı kaynaklar detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Yakın dönemdeki bandoların tarihi, işlevleri ve verilen eğitimler hakkında detaylı ve doğru bilgilere ulaşabilmek amacıyla TSK Armoni Mızıkası Bandosunda görev yapmış insanlarla röportaj yapılmış ve bu röportajlar sözlü kaynak olarak kullanılmıştır.Music has always been an appliance in the military, in areas of education, disciplinary behaviour and as well as to keep morale high. When the history of Turks is researched, formation of band-like communities can be observed. One of the most important representatives of these band-like communities in the Turkish Republic is currently the Choir of Turkish Armed Forces. This paper examines the history of military bands in Turkey on the basis of the Choir of Turkish Armed Forces. The history of bands on military basis have been examined in detail starting from the Ottoman period with the observance of band-like formations in early Turkish states. For examining the history of this period, firstly the written sources from the Ottoman period to recent history were examined in detail.
