It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 19).Işıklar Askeri Lisesi Türkiye’nin en eski ve köklü liselerinden biri olup ülkede bulunan dört askeri liseden biridir. Eğitim verdiği süre boyunca Türk Silahlı Kuvvetlerine pek çok subay kazandırmıştır ve Türk eğitiminin çağdaşlaşmasında büyük payı vardır. Bu makale Işıklar Askeri Lisesinin 1985-2000 yılları arasında işleyişini ve çevresine etkilerini incelemektedir. Lisenin konumu, mimarisi, kısaca tarihçesi, lisede seçili yıllar arasında yaşanan önemli olaylar ve nasıl bir eğitim verildiği bu makalede değinilen konulardandır. Okulun öğrencilere katkıları, diğer askeri liselerden farkları ve bu okuldan mezun olan kişilerin başarıları da bu makalede anlatılmaktadır. Seçili yıllar arasında Askeri Işıklar Lisesinde öğrenci olmuş mezunlar ile sözlü ve yazılı röportaj yapılmıştır. Bu bilgilerle beraber lisenin işleyişi, mimarisi, dersleri ve tarihçesi gibi konulardan bahseden yazılı kaynaklar kullanılmıştır. Işıklar Askeri Lisesinin kuruluşundan itibaren ve özellikle 1985-2000 yılları arası Türk ordusuna çok sayıda subay yetiştirdiği ve Türk ordusunun modernleşmesinde önemli katkıları olduğu sonucuna kaynakların yorumlanması ve bilgi karşılaştırılması yapılarak varılmıştır.Işıklar Military High School is one of the oldest and most established institutions in Turkey and it is one of the four military high schools in Turkey. During its active years, it trained many military officers who joined the Turkish Armed Forces; and it had a significant role in the modernization of Turkish education. This article focuses on Işıklar Military High School’s operation and effects on its environment between the years 1985-2000. Location, architecture, short history of the school, its education method and important events occurring between the selected years are topics that have been discussed in this article. The differences between Işıklar Military High School and other military schools, its contributions to students and accomplishments of the graduates also are considered in the article. Oral and written interviews with graduates from this school were conducted and written sources consisting of the operation of the high school, architecture, lessons and history were used in order to publish this article.
