It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 17).Kamuran Gündemir, Türk Piyano Tarihi’nin en önemli piyanist ve eğitmenlerinden biridir. Öğrencilerinin uluslararası başarılar elde etmelerinde büyük bir rol oynamıştır. Kamuran Gündemir’in hayatını inceler ve anlarken Çağdaş Türk Devrim’i de göz önünde bulundurulmalıdır. Hayatını eğitmenliğe adamadan önce de başarılı bir geçmişi olması sebebiyle, bu çalışma Kamuran Gündemir’in kişisel hayatına, bir piyanist olarak kariyerine ve son olarak öğretmenliğine odaklanacaktır. Araştırma kapsamında, Kamuran Gündemir’in özel yeteneğinin keşfi, eğitimi, kariyeri, öğrencileri ve öğrencilerinin Kamuran Gündemir’in eğitmenliği üzerine düşünceleri ele alınmıştır. Öğrencileri Fazıl Say, Emre Elivar ve Mertol Demirelli; Kamuran Gündemir’in öğretmenliği hakkındaki deneyimlerini paylaşmışlardır. “Kamuran Gündemir'e armağan: "Piyanist, Hoca Ve Cumhuriyet Aydını" adlı ana kaynak sayesinde, Kamuran Gündemir’in kendi hayatıyla ilgili detaylara ve kişisel ifadelerine de ulaşılmıştır. Türk Piyano Tarihi’nde önemli bir yere sahip olan Kamuran Gündemir’in önemi, bu biyografik araştırma kapsamında açıklığa kavuşturulacaktır.Kamuran Gündemir, a pianist and a blueprint for Turkish piano education, has played a major role in his students’ international success. Understanding the evolution of Turkish modernization is a crucial part of understanding both his childhood and his adulthood. He had much success before dedicating his life to teaching the youth, therefore this study will elaborate on his personal life, his career as a pianist and his teachership. The scope of this research starts from his discovery as a piano prodigy, his education, his career, his students and ends with the extent of his students’ both local and global success. His students Fazıl Say, Emre Elivar and Mertol Demirelli have stated their experiences and their thoughts about both Kamuran Gündemir and his teachership. By having the primary source as “Kamuran Gündemir'e armağan: "Piyanist, Hoca Ve Cumhuriyet Aydını", the research will be able to refer to Kamuran Gündemir’s personal statements about his life and get accurate details of his experiences.
