It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 12).Sabih Kayan'ın yurt dışında eğitim görmesi, kendisinin birden fazla sanat dallarıyla ilgilenmesi ve hayatına etki eden pek çok öğe eserlerinde de bulunabilmektedir. Sabih Kayan, işlevsellikten fedakarlık etmeden estetiği eserlerine de enjekte etmiştir. Ancak, sadece Sönmez Apartmanı projesinde, gerçekten sanatsal ve estetik yeteneklerini ortaya koyabilme fırsatı bulmuştur. Sönmez apartmanı her ne kadar döneminin etkin akımlarını içinde barındırsa da, -Amerikan tarzı iç mekan tasarımları - ağırlıkla, kullanışlılığı etkilemeden plastik bir estetiği başarılı bir şekilde yapısında bulundurur.In the works of Sabih Kayan, there are lots of elements which are influenced by both his education is getting from abroad and also his interest on other art branches. He combined aesthetics with his buildings without compromising functionality. However, he only got the chance to truly demonstrate his artistic and aesthetic sides of him in Sonmez Building project.
