It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 14-16).Hasan Celal Güzel, Türkiye siyasetinde 1960’lı yıllardan itibaren etkin bir rol üstlenmiş ve uzun yıllar boyunca Türkiye’nin siyasi gündeminde öne çıkan bir figür olmuştur. Hem akademik geçmişi hem de siyasi kariyeri ile tanınan Güzel, 12 Eylül 1980 darbesi öncesi ve sonrası dönemde çeşitli görevlerde bulunmuş, özellikle 1980 sonrası dönemde siyasi düşünceleri ve görüşleriyle dikkat çekmiştir. Hasan Celal Güzel, 1960'larda siyasete atılmadan önce akademik alanda önemli çalışmalar yapmış ve Türkiye'nin yakın tarihine dair derin bir bilgi birikimi oluşturmuştur. 1980 darbesinin ardından Türkiye'nin siyasi yapısındaki değişimleri yakından takip eden Güzel, Türk siyasetinin dönüşüm sürecinde önemli görüşler ortaya koymuş ve bu dönemdeki birçok gelişmeyi eleştirel bir perspektiften değerlendirmiştir. Bu araştırma, Hasan Celal Güzel'in hayatını ve Türkiye siyasetindeki yerini anlamak için, onun hakkında yazılmış olan tezlerden, dönemin gazetelerinden, meclis tutanaklarından ve ailesiyle yapılan röportajlardan yararlanarak Hasan Celal Güzel'in hem aile hayatını hem de içinde bulunduğu siyasi süreçleri kapsamaktadır. Özellikle 1960-1980 yılları arasındaki dönemde yaşanan siyasi olayları ve bu olayların Türkiye'nin siyasal yapısına etkilerini anlamak için Hasan Celal Güzel önemli bir referans noktası teşkil etmektedir. Güzel'in siyasi yaşamı, dönemin en önemli sosyal ve politik kırılma noktalarını daha iyi kavrayabilmek için farklı bir bakış açısı sunmaktadır.Hasan Celal Güzel has played an active role in Turkish politics since the 1960s and has been a prominent figure on Turkey's political agenda for many years. Known for both his academic background and political career, Güzel held various positions before and after the September 12, 1980 coup, and especially attracted attention with his political thoughts and opinions in the post-1980 period. Before entering politics in the 1960s, Hasan Celal Güzel conducted important academic studies and accumulated a deep knowledge of Turkey's recent history. Güzel closely followed the changes in Turkey's political structure after the 1980 coup, and put forward important views on the transformation process of Turkish politics and evaluated many developments during this period from a critical perspective. In order to understand Hasan Celal Güzel's life and his place in Turkish politics, this research covers both Hasan Celal Güzel's family life and the political processes he was involved in, using theses written about him, newspapers from the period, parliamentary minutes and interviews with his family. Hasan Celal Güzel is an important reference point for understanding the political events that took place between 1960 and 1980 and their effects on the political structure of Turkey.
