It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Araştırma, Ani Ören Yeri’ndeki kazıların başlangıcını ve gelişimini incelerken, kazılarda bulunan eserlerin tarihi önemine vurgu yapmaktadır. Arkeolojik kazıların başlangıç dönemi, özellikle 1990’lı yıllarda ve günümüzde gerçekleştiren kazılar ve bu kazılar ışığında elde edilen önemli buluntularla birlikte ortaya çıkarılan doğru bilinen yanlışlar ele alınmaktadır. Makalede, Ani Ören Yeri’nin tarihi, arkeolojik kazılar yapılırken yaşanan zorlukların sosyal, ekonomik ve uluslararası nedenleriyle el alınmakta ve Doç.Dr. Muhammet Arslan’ın arşivinden alınan belgeler ve fotoğraflarla desteklenmektedir.The aim of this study is to present a comprehensive analysis by focusing on the excavations carried out in Ani Ruins, mainly based on the verbal statement of the head of the excavation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Arslan. While the research examines the beginning and development of the excavations at Ani Ruins, it emphasizes the historical importance of the artifacts found in the excavations. The beginning period of archaeological excavations, especially the excavations carried out in the 1990s and today, and the critical findings obtained in the light of these excavations, as well as the well-known mistakes that were revealed, are discussed. The article discusses the history of Ani Ruins and the social, economic, and international reasons for the difficulties experienced during archaeological excavations. It is supported by documents and photographs taken from the archive of Assoc.
