It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Sanata olan ilgisi, heykel, resim, fotoğrafçılık gibi hobilerle birleşerek tasarımlarına ilham verdi. Türkiye ve uluslararası alanda birçok önemli peyzaj projesine imza atan Öztan, Münih ve Osaka Türk Bahçelerinde ödüller kazanarak Türk kültürünü uluslararası alanda tanıttı. Türkiye’de peyzaj mimarlığının gelişmesine katkı sağlamak amacıyla Adana Ziraat Fakültesinde ilk Peyzaj Mimarlığı bölümünün kurulmasında büyük rol oynadı ve peyzaj eğitiminin yayılmasına öncülük etti. Çevre dostu tasarım anlayışı ve botanik bilgisiyle sürdürülebilir projeler geliştiren Öztan, Türk bahçeciliğini modern peyzajla birleştirerek kalıcı bir miras bıraktı.Yüksel Öztan was born on 17 March 1933 in Trabzon, Turkey. He lived in many different cities of Turkey and had his education in Agriculture Faculty of Ankara University and majored in landscape architecture. After he got his doctorate degree in 1959 he continued focusing on his academic career and was a faculty member of Ankara University for many years. His personal passion for arts merged with his hobbies of photography, painting and other fine arts and thus inspired his own projects. Amongst his many achievements, both national and international, he introduced Turkish culture within his projects especially in competitions like Munich and Osaka Turkish Gardens. He played a crucial role in the development of landscape architecture by playing a major part in the opening of the first Landscape Architecture Department in Adana Agriculture Faculty.
