It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Devlet sanatçılığı ünvanının ortaya çıkışı, kriterleri ve sanat dünyasında uyandırdığı fikir ayrılıklarını inceler. İnci Çayırlı’nın sanatçı bakış açısı ile verdiği bilgiler ele alınarak, Türk sanat müziğinin gelişimi ve değişimi üzerine genel bir değerlendirme yapar.This article covers the transformation of Turkish art music through developing technology and social changes, focusing on the events witnessed by State Artist (Devlet Sanatçısı) and Turkish art music artist Inci Çayırlı. It explores how the political and social changes that took place between 1940 and 2000 affected the process of reaching the audience of Turkish art music and how it faced the danger of losing its popularity as a result. It examines the emergence of the title "state artist" and its criteria while focusing on different points of view about this title.
