It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 19).26 Ocak 1942!de İstanbul!da dünyaya gelen Erol Büyükmeriç, Türk edebiyatında çocuk ve gençlik edebiyatı alanında başarılı yazarlardan birisidir. İlk, ortaöğretimini İstanbul Kadıköy!de tamamlamış ve sonrasında Ankara Demiryol Meslek Okulu yatılı sınavına girip bu okulu kazanmıştır ve buradan da mezun olmuştur. Daha sonra bir süre memur olarak çalışan Erol Büyükmeriç 1972 yılında Anadolu Üniversitesi Kimya Mühendisliği Fakültesi!ni kazanıp bu kurumu da başarıyla bitirmiştir. Üniversite eğitimi bitince tekrar mezun olduğu Demiryol Meslek lisesine bu sefer öğretmen olarak dönen yazar, burada aynı zamanda okulun kitaplığını yönetmiştir. 1979 yılında TCDD Pratik Sanat Okulu Müdürlüğü’ne atanan Erol Büyükmeriç bir sene sonra Eskişehir Lokomotif Motor Sanayii!ne (ELMS/ sonradan TÜ- LOMSAŞ) mühendis olarak atanmış ve 1989!da buradan emekli olmuştur. Yazar 1966!da yazıp 1996!da yayımlanan "Yergök!#$yapıtıyla ünlenmiştir. Erol Büyükmeriç sonrasında, kendi tanımıyla "yazarlığıma verilmiş onurlu bir armağan sayarım” dediği %Dünya Kitap Altın sayfa Ödülü’nü, 2001 yılında başlayıp 2006 yılında bitirip aynı yıl kitaplaştırılan %Midas’ın Serçeparmağı’ eseriyle kazanmıştır. Bu eserler ve çeşitli sanat dallarında (şairlik, karikatüristlik) daha bunlar gibi yazdığı ve çizdiği birçok yapıtla çocuk ve gençlik edebiyatında önemli bir yer tutan Erol Büyükmeriç, günümüzde halen yazarlığa devam etmektedirBorn in Istanbul on January 26, 1942, Erol Büyükmeriç is one of the successful writers in Turkish literature in the field of children's and youth literature. He completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul Kadıköy and then entered the Ankara Railway Vocational School boarding exam and won this school and graduated from here. After working as a civil servant for a while, Erol Büyükmeriç won the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Anadolu University in 1972 and successfully graduated from this institution.
