It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Bu araştırmayla, Öner Tokcan’ın mimari felsefesi ve mimari eserleri incelenerek Türk mimarisine olan katkılarının derinlemesine anlatılması hedeflendi. Araştırma, Tokcan’ın aile hayatından mimarlık eğitimine, mimarlık kariyerinden projelerine kadar çeşitli yönlerini kapsar. Tokcan’ın özellikle 20. yüzyıl çağdaş cami mimarisindeki yenilikçi yaklaşımının anlaşılabilmesi için 20. yüzyıl çağdaş cami mimarisi genel özellikleriyle aktarıldı. Tokcan, eserleriyle Türkiye’de çağdaş mimariye önemli katkılarda bulunup uluslararası platformda da takdir edilir. Tokcan başarılı projelerindeki çevre dostu ve sürdürülebilir yaklaşımı ile başka mimarlara ilham kaynağı oldu. Araştırma, Öner Tokcan’ın eserleriyle ilgili belgelerden, yayınlardan, fotoğraflardan; kendisinden röportaj sayesinde alınan özel bilgilerden yararlanılarak yazıldı.Öner Tokcan is one of the most distinguished architects in Turkey, he has been a prominent figure in Turkish architecture since the 1960s, contributing to numerous significant projects. This study aims to explore Tokcan’s architectural philosophy and works to provide an in-depth understanding of his contributions to Turkish architecture. This research consists of various aspects of his life, including his family background, architectural education, career, and projects. To better understand Tokcan’s innovative approach to 20th-century modern mosque architecture, the general characteristics of 20th-century modern mosque architecture are also discussed. Through his projects, Tokcan has made notable contributions to modern architecture in Turkey and gained recognition on international platforms. His environmentally friendly and sustainable approach in his successful projects has served as an inspiration for other architects.
