It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 24-26).2 Şubat 1935 tarihinde Rize'de doğan Tuncay Mataracı Rize İnşaat Tekniker Okulu'ndan yüksek inşaat teknikeri olarak mezun olduktan sonra babasının işleriyle ve Rize İl Yol Su Elektrik, Çay-Kur, Merkez Çay Ekicileri Kooperatifi ile meşgul oldu. 5 Haziran 1977 tarihinde Adalet Partisi'nden milletvekili seçilerek Meclis'e girdi. Tuncay Mataracı on bir milletvekili ile birlikte partisinden istifa ederek Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi ile birlikte yeni hükümetin kurulmasında yer aldı. Bu hükümette Gümrük ve Tekel Bakanı olarak görev alan Tuncay Mataracı 12 Eylül 1980 darbesi sonrasında yolsuzluk suçlamasıyla yargılandı ve 36 yıl hapis cezasına çarptırıldı. Cezaevinde 10.5 yıl geçirdikten sonra 1991 yılında tahliye olan Mataracı o tarihten bu yana Çanakkale'de yaşamaktadır.Tuncay Mataracı was born in Rize in 2 February 1935 and he graduaded as construction technician from Rize İnşaat Tekniker School. He took over his father's job at the first and he took parts on improtant positions at different institutions at Rize. He was accepted to Turkey Grand National Assembly at 5 June 1977 from Justice Party. However, after a little while he decided to resign from Justice Party and after a while eventually he made it officially done. Numerous deputies were also resigned from Justice Party after Mataracı. They gathered and decided to move together and they played a role at establishment of the new government at the side of the Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi. Mataracı took part in the new government as the Minister of Customs and Monopolies. He was accused of bribary and lawlessness at the period of 12 September 1980 military coup. He was charged 36 years of prison. After he took 10.5 years of his punishment of prison, he was released in 1991.
