It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 17).Safranbolu, Türkiye'nin tarihi ve kültürel açıdan zengin bir ilçesi olarak bilinmektedir ve bu zenginliğin temelinde tarihi Safranbolu konakları yer almaktadır. Bu makale, UNESCO Dünya Miras Listesi'ne dahil edilen bu konakların yapısını, tarihini ve turizmle olan ilişkisini detaylı bir şekilde incelemektedir. İlk olarak Safranbolu'nun tarihi ele alınarak, geçmiş uygarlıklar döneminden günümüze kadar olan önemi vurgulanmaktadır. Daha sonra, ev pansiyonculuğunun başlaması ve konak otelciliğinin gelişimi üzerine odaklanılarak, Safranbolu'nun konaklama tarihine ve bu durumun turizmle ilişkisine derinlemesine bakılmaktadır. Ayrıca, turist davranışları ve tercihlerinin bölge üzerindeki etkileri ve turizmin Safranbolu'ya olan ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel etkileri incelenmektedir. Makale, Safranbolu konaklarının iç mimarisi ve restorasyon çalışmalarını da içermekte ve bu alanlardaki değişimler ile sürdürülebilirlik konularına değinmektedir.Safranbolu is known as a historically and culturally rich district of Turkey, and the basis of this richness is the historical Safranbolu mansions. This article examines in detail the structure, history, and relationship with tourism of these mansions included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. First, with Safranbolu’s history in mind, its importance from past civilizations to the present is emphasized. Then, Safranbolu's accommodation history and its relationship with tourism are examined in depth by focusing on the beginning of the house pension business and the development of mansion hotel management. Additionally, the regional effects of tourist behaviors and preferences, plus the economic, social, and cultural effects of tourism on Safranbolu, are examined.
